This is your sign to plan a fall foliage trip next year and become a “leaf peeper”. It is incredible. If you have 6 sisters in law to make it extra fun, that is def recommended!
We are all out West, so we decided to fly into Boston on Friday, spend Saturday exploring Boston, then began our journey to Stowe, Vermont on Sunday.

- Walk the Freedom Trail- this took a big chunk of the day
- grabbed pastries in Little Italy. Mike’s Pastry and Modern Pastry, they specialize in cannolis and tons of other treats. They only accept cash.
- lots of souvenir shopping in all the shops we passed.
- we didn’t plan ahead for meals GASP, but Boston is known for their Lobster Rolls if you like seafood. I would choose an Italian restaurant for dinner. make reservations. Carmelina’s is where we would’ve gone if we made reservations.
- I love a bookstore! We wandered the cutest one called Beacon Hill Books and Cafe.
- a few years ago, We did the Ducks tour. highly recommend if you don’t want to Walk the Freedom Trail.
- Also went to a comedy show a few years ago that was so fun! check out Improv Asylum
We just stayed in a Hyatt that was pretty centrally located. Rented a car at the airport for when we head to Vermont, but we just walked or Ubered around Boston.

Day 1 of Leaf Peeping- I promise that’s what it’s called LOL
My sis in Law did all the research and planning, and she’s amazing!!
- Hanover New Hampshire to the King Arther Baking campus- one sis LOVES to bake.
- Quechee Gorge
- Silloway Farms- cute little farm in the most adorable small town. Must try the Maple Creemie- ice cream, and their maple syrup is delicious!!
- Waterbury Vermont, Cold Hollow Cider Mill for cider and Donuts and shopping!
- stayed in an Airbnb in Stowe VT for 3 nights. Stowe is adorable. e stayed at Carolyns Corner. I do NOT recommend. Location was fantastic, beds and pillows were HORRIBLE! and a lot of bathroom lights didn’t work.
- Dinner at Prohibition Pig

Day 2 starting in Stowe, Vermont
- Breakfast at Butler’s Pantry- then bring snacks or picnic lunch
- Ride the Skyride Gondola on Mt. Manafield
- Drive through Smugglers Notch Pass
- Kissing Bridge- there are so many covered bridges up here, it’s so cool
- explored northeast kingdom Lake Willoughby, Jay Peak
- back to Stowe, shopped in the village on Main Street. cutest little bookshop
- photos at sunset and view of Stowe community church from a lookout spot off the road on the way to dinner
- dinner at Piecasso

Day 3- headed out of Stowe, VT to New Hampshire
You could save some driving and maybe go further if you want to stay at a different place every night, we didn’t want to pack up our stuff everyday, and stow was pretty central.
- breakfast at Cafe on Main in Stowe
- Kancamagus Scenic Byway: so many picturesque stops along this! Hancock Overlook, Pemigewasset Overlook, CL Graham Wangan Overlook, Sugar Hill
Overlook, Saddaday Falls, Rocky Gorge, Lower Falls - We drove as far as we could in the time we had and stopped along the way, until we had to turn back to go to Flume Gorge for our hike. Reservations are required.
- laaaaaate lunch in Lincoln Vermont at El Charro. It was yummy and I recommend the table side guac of course! beware lots of restaurants in these small towns aren’t open all the days, especially Tuesday and Wednesday which is when we were there.
Day 4 headed home. We all flew out of Burlington, VT which is just under an hour from Stowe.

Definitely make plans to go leaf peeping. The colors are so vibrant and incredible. It’s so different than out here in the West. We don’t take that kind of beauty for granted. Also, go the first week of October. And make sure your car buddies have a wide array of music to blast and sing along to. We sang and laughed so much! I am grateful for these sisters my hubby gave me. (even though 6 came with me, we’re still missing 2! Yes my hubby has 8 sisters and he’s the only boy.)
